Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
There should be a "Live Chat" link / button, depending on how you're watching. You may also need to swap from "top chat" to "live chat" to see all of the messages. It still hasn't appeared for the latest stream but it's there for the previous three (and the Seth Gibbs tribute).
The trick then is to remember that you can't respond to any of these messages when you think of a dumb joke. This catches me out every time.

So at the risk of asking a dumb question, how do people vote on the live fight winner?

Spud has been cooking something up and I imagine he will announce it during the stream tonight.

Yeah, we did the live chat in the YouTube comments and it takes while for that to show up in the archived version, too. Top/live chat toggle is important too, YouTube tries to be overly "helpful" and by default only show you "top" chat, whatever the hell that means.

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
So just one old timer's opinion but let me be the first to say that the first virtual Song Fight! Live event went over pretty fucking well! I know a lot of work went into it so thanks to everyone who made it happen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. People could have given up on SFL this year and instead they rallied and turned it into something really unexpected and cool and special. In these times, that's a fucking gift. So thank you.

Live chat replay is working now!
So now I can respond to you ghosts:
@Ken - the electric guitar I played on the Vowl song is an Eastwood Wandré.
@Truth - the bass is a short scale Squier Jaguar.
@glennny - sorry I didn't get the cats in there. One of them watched most of my set from the windowsill!
@mo - you're upside down!?
@everyone - thanks for all the kind words!

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
I sat through my set again so I could see all your comments!
For those who loved my guitar, YES, IT IS GREAT. It’s a Squier Mustang in Competition Orange with racing stripes, and was an early Christmas present this year. Did a little bit of finishing setup on it and it plays extremely well for a guitar that was so inexpensive. Glad we got it early because it appears there were only a handful made and there’s an even smaller handful left. https://reverb.com/item/33622509-squier ... ion-orange
The little baby amp is indeed a Yamaha: https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/m ... index.html
It’s one of the discontinued ones, but I assume the newer models are just as good or better. Makes excellent sounds for such a small box and is great for not being killed in the night by neighbours.
Glad you liked the cover Micah! Thought about telling you in advance then decided surprising you was more fun.

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
As a work 2nd shift every other weekend guy, I've been unable to watch much of this. But I've been zipping through a lot of it and it's very enjoyable. Great work by all involved, especially those who tighten all the nuts and bolts to make it work. As great as the music is, I've particularly enjoyed the interviews I've seen, seeing the faces and personalities behind the music. Good stuff, that.
Thanks for doing this, people. And even if I'm on the sidelines, I'm cheering on the greatness that is SongFight. Cheers!
P.S. Two things missing: A Paco theme for the promos, and my interview. I'll ready them for...some next time thingy.

Bringin' the stink since 2006.

This was a fun experience. Thanks to everyone who toiled behind the scenes, to Glenn Case for the interviews, and to everyone who submitted videos. Still planning to watch Night 4 and the Live Fight...

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
Ok, the live chat is on YouTube for the live fight now.
Thanks for all the compliments on my tiny baby Casio! We got it for Christmas in 1989 or 1990 and it was my favourite thing in the whole wide world. It plays a great version of Wake Me Up Before You Go Go as the demo song. I’ve spent years dreaming about it and wondering what had happened to it, and when we somehow, in some mirror world, managed to actually travel to Australia and have a holiday earlier this year, I made it my mission to search my parent’s house head to toe to find it. I assumed it had been destroyed by my legions of nieces and nephews, but, BUT, I eventually found it packed away in with a board game so boring that no one had ever opened it in 20 years. I think the batteries had shat themselves so it just got put away and forgotten about. One of the batteries had ruptured inside, so I took it apart, cleaned it up, got it working and stole it. As much as you can steal something that was yours to start with.
Next topic of discussion: who doesn’t bring gloves to a fight? I was having trouble finding something that sounded good as percussion when I was setting up my mic, looked across the room and saw the gloves. I had to record the percussion three times, because the first take prominently featured my en suite toilet more than the gloves. The second take no longer featured the toilet, but I’d still somehow managed to move my hands enough that the gloves weren’t really in frame. I haven’t really boxed for a while and my arms heckin hurt enough by the end of the day that I took two paracetamol before bed and entered my percussion takes into Fitbit as a workout. Re the speedball comment: I used to have one but idiotically got rid of it in the purge before we left Australia in 2017. I do have a heavy bag, but it’s sitting abandoned in a corner because there’s sadly nowhere to hang it in this house.

So I posted my video on Youtube which premiered in LS3 just before Micah Sommersmith - cos I am a completist or something. Have at it (should you so desire)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXOdNNyhW9I

I've really enjoyed watching and seeing you all - how amazing is Internet, eh?
A couple of quick notes:
* Merisan, absolutely gorgeous.
* Lunkhead's Depp Sub-Reddit video was fantastic
* Vom, there is something wonderful about the way you approach songs, thanks for doing it.

Thanks gizo! Really glad folks enjoy our stuff and the whole thing in general. It was a definite highlight of this otherwise largely dismal year for me.

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020
You know that feeling of withdrawal you get when you favorite TV show goes on break for a few weeks, that's what it feels like here. We need more SF content. Who's up for SF: Live Spooky Season, the Halloween spectacular?
