Luke, WTF! Dude, Censor that. No one needs that on the board.
Obscurity, Goth is not a bad thing. It's just that people immediately think Lucidia's a goth because she's got black hair and tattoos. There's nothing wrong with being goth, she's just not part of the culture.
Didn't mean to offend, Obs.

it's kind of a joke, once again, it's hard to make a joke when you have to explain every single aspect of it in detail. perhaps I should just refrain from making jokes at all anymore...obscurity wrote:Personally I've no opinion on the whole hot borg queen thing, I just wish you'd stop referring to goth like it's some kind of insult or something.
I dress kinda goth, and I used to go to a lot of goth parties. however, I've been accused for years of being "poser" in the "scene" because I also dress in blue jeans and sneakers and listen to other types of music (pop, r&b, rap, etc). i guess the people who live life defined by their precious label don't always deal well with with the concept that not everyone is a label purist.
if you read the song i wrote, I admit to doing lots of stereotypical goth things, because I do those things. I wear big scary boots, and I dye my hair black and red, and I wear black lipstick and heavy eyeliner sometimes. I used to be a regular at just about ANY and all "good" goth/industrtrial parties in NYC, and even promoted and worked at a few years ago. I get a lot of flack at work because 90% of my clothing is black, and I do listen to a LOT of goth/industrial music. However, I just don't fit in well with the typical "goth" people I know, as I don't really adhere to their standards and for whatever reason a lot of them don't seem to like hanging out with people who aren't in goth-mode 24/7. Honestly I miss having more goth-y friends as those are the only people I can go to those parties with, etc, who aren't 100% insulting about it.
I also think living your life attached to a label in such a way as to define your existence around it is very limiting (but 100% your choice and 100% perfectly cool and I'm happy for anyone who does so). I think I might have "gothic" traits of my tastes and my style, but I refuse to live by any label, and I get kind of insulted when people limit their view of me by defining me as being just "one" type of person. I'm dynamic, and I change a lot. I'm not a poser or a fake... I'm just not definable by one label.
I know it can seem like we are insulting the goth thing, but honestly, we aren't being truly insulting. we are joking around, because it's pretty funny. I assume you're goth, or have some close goth friends, and that's great. To a certain degree, I too am "goth". But the same way i don't really let it insult me when someone makes a negative comment about women, or about white people, or about fashion designers, or about female singers, heavily tattooed people, or about people who don't like certain foods, etc.. I try not to let it bother me when people insult any group that I might relate to, as everyone IS entitled to their opinion. I get called stupid for being a vegetarian all the time... and it doesn't even phase me. I'm actually pretty easy to offend and insult, but there are some things that I realize aren't worth getting upset over.
If I go on some type of tirade, bashing people and insulting YOU personally, maybe harrassing you directly and putting up insulting images and jokes and pushing the limitation of friendly jokes and such, then I could see why you had a reason to be upset.
But since we don't even know each other yet, please don't worry about how my bandmates and I handle the fact that I exhibit gothy traits. I certainly don't think we're referring to anyone BUT me, and we don't mean to insult anyone either. I am less insulted by the fact that I might be portrayed as "goth" and much more insulted that people think I don't have any other noticible attributes.
I would also like to wholeheartedly apologize for starting this stupid thread, as obviously our sense of humor crossed some kind of lines and I can't really say I'm happy with the results of this stupid endeavor. any and all admins are more than welcome to delete the whole thing, because I think I'm just about done defending myself.

I don't believe - now you people are claiming that photos of homeless men enjoying a bit of harmless oral sex is offensive?!?! Ha! - God bless you Seppos and your charming prudishness!WeaselSlayer wrote:Well at least now nobody will think twice about me accidentally posting hobo bj's, thanks Denyer.
BTW Luke - I missed your picture - can you re-post please? It sounds like a picture with a sort-of "...better to give than to recieve.." type vibe that would be just perfect to put on a Christmas card for the in-laws.
