The Bird & The Bee - The Bird And The Bee

Post by fluffy »

Okay, so someone made a fan video for Again & Again which got very famous in the Macintosh Internet community (for obvious reasons). I liked the song. So I bought the album. It is a very good album.

Artists which come to mind while listening to it: Bjork, Radiohead (Hail to the Thief-era), Garbage, Portishead, Moby (his good stuff), Fatboy Slim. The vocals are very heavily-processed but in good and creative ways which sound both organic and artificial at the same time, the beats are very captivating, and the chord progressions and melodies are actually unconventional without being wanky or dissonant.

The only complaints I have are that the songs aren't specifically very memorable (at least not on the first listen) and that towards the end it starts to sound kind of samey, and the album itself doesn't seem to follow much of an acoustic "arc." The album never really sounds like it's ending, it just sort of ends. But I still like it anyway.

I like this too. Not sure how it ended up on my laptop, but I liked it enough to buy a copy for a gift.

I just took a listen. I can tell that I'd get sick of them real fast. But, it makes great background music. Nice smooth vocals and a good mix of acoustic and electronics. Your Portished is a perfect comparison.

Their EP "Please Clap Your Hands" is worth checking out too. I like "Polite Dance Song" and "How Deep Is Your Love," a Bee Gees cover.
