Nur Ein VI.2 - Blame It On Ginger

Post by Manhattan Glutton »

Just a few years ago, I was riding a wave of pride!
I bought a house, found a girl, and felt complete inside!
But the highs don't last so long, when you're someone like me!
And the lows stretch on for days, as far as you can see!

I blame it on ginger! I blame it on spice!
I blame it on all the things I take, to make me feel nice!
I blame it on the weather! I blame it on the snow!
But most importantly, Numero Uno!

I used to have some friends, but I drove them all away!
I used to see the point, but then something got in my way!
It isn't so bad until you get a little reminder!
Of all the good times you had! Of all the good things that were!

I blame it on family! On my dad who died!
I blame it on all the sunny days, I should have gone outside!
I blame it on work! I used to blame it on school!
The list goes on and on...

I blame it on ginger! I blame it on spice!
I blame it on all the things I take, to make me feel nice!
I blame it on the weather! I blame it on the snow!
But most importantly, Numero Uno!
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Blame It On Ginger
by (Jon Eric performing as) Hunky

In the seventh grade I made myself a lot of strife
My social status often balanced on a knife
I met a pretty girl, turned her into my world
Pretty soon I was convinced that she was gonna be my wife

The problem was that there was no reciprocation
She might've if I could've held a conversation
But I was busy muttering and I was busy stuttering
When in my heart I knew that I should have been busy buttering her up

Ginger had a right to picky
But she didn't have a reason to pick me
A smart boy, yes I should have known better
Then to think he ever had a legitimate chance to get her

The way I acted must have looked like stalking to her
I started writing songs in lieu of talking to her
So you can take this with a grain of salt
But in a way my whole career is her fault

[chorus]
You can blame it on Ginger
You can blame it, you can blame it you can blame it on whomever you want
But it's Ginger
She's the reason, she's the reason she's the reason I'm in front
You can blame it on Ginger
You can blame it, you can blame it you can blame it on whomever you like
But it's Ginger
She's the reason, she's the reason she's the reason I'm in front of the mic

I'll be straight with you—I'm gonna be honest
I got a big ego—but I didn't always
I used to stare at my feet when I walked
I used to stu-stu-stutter when I talk

So you can understand why the crux of my plan
Was to stare at her until she came and took my hand
It was such a rush, it felt so visceral
The perfect combination of smitten and miserable

We're calling her Ginger but that wasn't her name
This rap is like Dragnet; the names have been changed
To protect the innocent, to protect the full of charm
To protect the beautiful, who never meant any harm

Except not loving me, and I'm not mad about that
Because I know you can't give love just because someone loves you back
That's a lesson I learned, Ginger never knew she taught
So there's another thing that's her fault

[chorus]

The moment in my life that I most wished I could be dead
Was in the pool when I threw the foam float at Jason's head
I watched it hook with a feeling of dread
And ran away when the block struck you instead

Oh Ginger—I hope you never find out
How bad I had it for you, how you blew my mind out
Yes Ginger—I hope you never learn
Just how bright my fire burned
And Ginger—I hope you never understand
The part you played in making this boy into a man
Ginger—I hope you die ignorant
Of the way you made me into a winner

You're so humble, through and through
That you might even hear this song and not even know that it's you
It's you
It's you

[chorus x2]

Another song about a girl!

Blame it on Ginger
by Luke Henley

You can blame it on sushi,
or you can blame it on the Sapporo.
You can blame it on the candy,
the kind that comes from Tokyo.
You can blame it on music,
crystalized structure of the radio,
or you can blame it on the dancing,
yeah you can blame it on the techno.
Whoever holds the blame,
I couldn't really care.
It could have been my whiskey breath
or the color of your hair, but now

Chorus:
I'm in love I'm in love I don't care whose fault it is.
For the first of my life I think I found a wife, and I won't take time
to trace back how it happened.
We had a kind of weird start.
But whether I blame you or you me,
it's time to slow dance and listen to some Lou Reed.

I wasn't taught to love you
I didn't read a book on this
There was no Talented Mr. Ripley scheme
that led to the night we first kissed.
There are no shadows around you,
I am not Kafka or your therapist.
I just kind of fell into it,
I'm lucky 'cause I could have missed.
Whatever the circumstances
I couldn't really care
it could have been the stars aligned
or just the time we shared a pear, but now

You can tell me you're not pretty,
but you do know that I have eyes
just like the hills around here,
just like the ground, just like the sky.
And I will always love you
and I will always be your guy
I'll find you sexy when we're older
on the day you die, I'll also die.
However long we're around
I couldn't really care
maybe it's part of God's design,
but we don't see him anywhere.

Blame it on Ginger - Frankie Big Face

Her fabric is frayed and it doesn't take much
To pull her apart at the seams
A door bursts open, a devil unleashed
Ensures she'll be redeemed

A host of horrors, a plague of flies
A voice that comes out in the night
She draped a veil of darkness
Upon my ordinary life

Blame it on Ginger
She cut me down in my prime
And left me ruined for all time
Afraid and alone

Blame it on Ginger
Sleeps under the Lone Star tonight
Tuning her bark and whetting her bite
Unseen and unknown

She pulled me by the shirt with shears in her hand
And cut my tie off at the neck
Tossed a glass of water in my face
Dissolving me to a speck

She chewed me up and spit me out
A lump on the side of the pike
Mumbled some curses I couldn't make out
While lighting her Lucky Strike

Blame it on Ginger
Witnessed the light go out in my eyes
Shackled my hands and silenced my cries
As a matter of course

Blame it on Ginger
Assuming that is her real name
Able to lie without any shame
Immune to remorse

Those of you listening who know of my history
May think this tale is a lie or a mystery
To make safe and sure to stay out of her range
Some of the names and events have been changed

After six years of reducing a man
To a smoldering trace of himself
She looked him straight in the eyes and she said
"I hope you rot in Hell"

No-one is innocent, I know this is true
We all have our sins to proclaim
But one thing I know above all other things
Is, in this case, Ginger deserves
All of the blame.

Blame It On Ginger
By John Kloberdanz

My mother always taught me
To think for myself
Try to find a voice that’s mine
And not be anyone else
My mother always asked me
To calm down and think straight
Draw a conclusion without illusion
Turn my cheek and not tempt fate

But I would have done better with less advice
Not everything has to be so precise

I Don’t
Blame it on Ginger
I never felt young and free
I couldn’t hear the things she said
It’s not her fault I couldn’t see

There were so many things I did not understand
And I could not control
“The things that I think are not what they think
The world is round but not whole”
I told her about my problems
And she laughed and rubbed my back
“We can go downstairs and just hang around
Or close the door and just relax

But by the time that I wanted to have some fun
She had moved on and the moment was done

I Don’t
Blame it on Ginger
I never felt young and free
I couldn’t hear the things she said
It’s not her fault I couldn’t see

I blame the English teacher who disbelieved
I blame the guidance counselor who preconceived
I blame the power grabbers who still duck and weave
But not you

Every year I walk past our school
The cheerleaders put on their show
Close my eyes and I think about
What I was too uptight to know

Only saw her red hair facing towards the sky
Memory may fade but it’s no wonder why

I Don’t
Blame it on Ginger
I never felt young and free
I couldn’t hear the things she said
It’s not her fault I couldn’t see

Blame It On Ginger - Paco del Stinko

There you stood by the hut - I saw you when my eyes were shut
I was seven years old - And I thought that it was enough
We were holding our hands - You and me, there was no man
I never felt so bold - Even if I did not understand

I had feelings for you - I can not deny that they were true
But then she came along - There was nothing that I could do
She had her eyes half closed - And she could crinkle her nose
Her captivation was strong - I felt like time itself had froze

Her sultry looks captivate
A slow smolder gentle gyrate
Hands on hips head tilted back
I was derailed, I was off track

So I left you for her - In my mind I was so sure
With that tight cream dress - I did not think of the hurt
And so there I made my stand - I rearranged my simple plan
I never felt a slight stress - I just followed my demand

Blame it on Ginger
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

What
What is this madness
I don't even

Please give me one more chance
Let me make things right
I couldn't help what I said
I'm sorry I gave you a fright

It's time I told you the truth
I just hope you won't leave me behind
I swear I won't lie to you
You see, there's someone else in my mind

Damn
Damn that Ginger
Get out of my head
I don't want you here

I know I can be a bitch
And also sometimes a slut
It's not my fault, it's that witch
She's just an utter and complete nut

I've tried to get her out
But nothing would ever work
Hypnotism, therapy, brain surgery
She just makes me go berserk

I hate you
I hate you so much
Leave me alone
Piss off, you cunt

She's driving me utterly insane
I can't be held accountable for my words
So please forgive me
And I'll try to make it right

We'll go some place far away from here
Where nobody can find us
Everything bad will disappear
Except for Ginger

Please go away

Blame it on Ginger by Boffo Yux Dudes

I'm pissed beyond belief. I was so close to relief.
After a dozen ideas and bunch of rough drafts, it was finally coming together.
The lyrics were there but the music was fair and needed some punching - whatever.

The tone was withdrawn and it wasn't that long
with a boy meets girl twist and a slap on the wrist it was finally coming but odder
the ginger ale angle for a sickness finagle was autobiographical fodder -

Now I'm ticked at the box that is covered in red because I've given my life
To the damn thing of silver that glistens in blood just because it just cuts like a knife.

A power supply that decided to fry in a last minute horror of wonders
Has stolen my work- made me look like a jerk as it grabs all my files in plunder.

I blame it. I blame it. I blame it on the box!
I claim it! Rename it! I blame it on the box!

Its nom de plume is Mac G4 although I know it much better.
It's real name is Satan - Bealzabub - Lucifer - anything evil is taken

So the bit about Conan and Geri Halliwell was sent to the either address known as hell. Torturing Gingerbread men was misplaced. He ripped off his legs - he no longer could race.

This leaves me blathering on like a fool. The tracks that were laid down by this Malevolent
tool are now vaporware diapered ghostly remains. The demos and rough drafts are left to abstain.

I blame it on that crimson box. It dwells within an evil pox.
There will be no more time for tea. It vexes now both you and me.

I will recover. It shall not win. This bastard child of electric sin.
But the time is now escape. It is to late for this make.

I blame it on ginger. You Bastard!

Blame It On Ginger by Glen Raphael

Chorus:
Blame it on Ginger
Blame it on Ginger
Blame it on Ginger
Not Mary Ann!

He watched TV
Every day
The "formative years", I think they say
Are when a boy figures out what is real and to what he can...aspire
And that sitcom
You probably know
Stuck out there was a hell of a show
Mary Ann was cute and smart but Ginger...
Brought the fire!

[chorus]

And now there's something missing
In my home and bed
I've had cute and sexy,
But what I need's the red!

[chorus]

I once tasted a cake
it was spicy delicious
the kind of cake I would make
But I make a habit
i burn down the place
it is not my affair much to care about the taste

Much beyond the moment
which I lay to waste
i'm not used to the strangeness
brought up by my haste
I think, well aren't all cakes
designed to be sweet?
Well, I fear you've ensnared me
with this zest and zing

Now I go crazy
childishly silly...
so seduce me with baking

CH
And I'm shaking
the raindrops are coming
- and my resolve will be thrown in the sea
I'm talking about adding spices
I'm adding the price in my head
...of partaking
causing myself the injury
I could blame you, I could blame me
for the sake of staying friendly
think I'll blame ginger ...cake...
- Blame it on ginger

Licking my fingers -
so sticky, so please
i'm down on my knees once again for a piece
it's like Edmund's terrible plight,
and you're like the white queen
who plies me with Turkish Delight

And the kitchen's whistling bye-bye
i'm breathless but Baker,
you're used to flying so high

CH
Feel me shake -
my heart for to break;
my heart - such an edible cupcake to make
and I'm talking about adding spices
adding the price in my head
can I be redeemed
if I blame the sweet
for the sake of staying friendly
I'll blame the easy injury
on the ginger

BR
blame it on ginger / blame it on cinnamon
blame it on chocolate / but mostly
blame it on how you look in the weather
blame it on ginger...
blame it on ginger / blame it on ginger

I'm mixed up and confused
like a bowl of devil's food
and the icings not sticking to you

CH
And I'm shaking
the raindrops are coming
- and my resolve will be thrown in the sea
I'm talking about adding spices
I'm adding the price in my head
...of partaking
I cause myself injury
I could blame you, I could blame me
but I think that I'll
blame the ginger.

Blame it on Ginger
By Ross Durand

If I'm not there in the morning
If I don't sleep in my own bed
Don't be worried, don't be offended
Just rest assured I slept somewhere else instead

So if I'm too late for all yer waitin'
It's just the beer that got to my head
So I'll just prob'ly find a couch that I can crash on
But don't blame it on me, blame it on ginger instead

Cause I never cared for California roll
And seaweed ain't my thing
But it's where everyone was goin in spite of me
And I need something to cleanse my pallet between swallows of beer
So blame it on ginger, it's the only thing I like in here
Blame it on ginger, it's the only thing I like in here

Well those Sapporo beers, they come so big
And they pour the cold saki tall
And tomorrow is the big day, and I should know better
But if it weren't for the ginger I wouldn't be here at all

CHORUS

So if I'm not there in the mornin
It's nothing personal, have no fear
But I just couldn't say no to one thing
Blame it on ginger, it's the only thing I like in here
Blame it on ginger, it's the only thing I like in here

Blame it on Ginger (and bourbon)
by Merisan

The Casanova Bar is just a few blocks away
and you and I could spend a little time
let’s go down and waste some of our hard earned bills
Cause I bet the drinks are strong tonight

But you’ve got something else behind your smile
Let’s have another round and stay a while.

Blame it on ginger, a few rocks and bourbon
Blame it on the song that was playing on the jukebox
If there’s a reason, then please explain it.
Why do I lay my heart out on the line
The “last call”bell rings out his chime
Let me know if it’s for you this time

I’m so tired of behaving like a good girl
Even martyrs must have gotten their kicks now and then
What’s so wrong with hoping for another chance
to figure out what love feels like again

You’ve let me dry my tears upon your sturdy shoulder
I think we’ll settle this before the night is over

Blame it on ginger, a few rocks and bourbon
Blame it on the song that was playing on the jukebox
If there’s a reason, then please explain it.
Why do I lay my heart out on the line
The “last call”bell rings out his chime
Please let me know if it’s for you this time

Blame It On Ginger
by BLT

-verse 1
Remember back in high school
You and I used to think that we were so damn cool
You played drums, I played guitar
We just knew together we could make it far
We always said bros before hoes
But we both know how that story goes
We've been blood brother since we were ten
But that's before she moved in

-verse 2
Now we do everything together
We're like three birds of a feather
We've got the hottest power trio in town
People come from all around
We pack the clubs up every night
But not because the band is tight
Everybody comes for just one thing
They all want to watch Ginger sing

-chorus
Oh no, the girl can't help it
Oh yeah, she's driving us wild
Oh no, the girl can't help it
Everybody knows it's not Ginger's fault

-verse 3
We both fell in love with her
But she could not decide
The future was unsure
The first time we saw her cry
All good things must come to an end
It finally broke up the band
We took three different paths
Never saw each other again.

-chorus X2
Oh no, the girl can't help it
Oh yeah, she's driving us wild
Oh no, the girl can't help it
Everybody knows it's not Ginger's fault

Blame It On Ginger

By Caleb Hines, and in spite of JoAnn Abbott

Well we wrote a song this week
It had lyrics and a melody
But now we're up a creek
Cause we had some technical difficulties
So instead of That song
We wrote this song
This isn't the song
We wrote for you.
And for no particular reason
I'll blame it all on Ginger
And everything here is true.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

Blame it on Ginger
By WreckdoM

She fried up rice so many times,
With vegetable and egg.
She knew I didn't mind a little spice
Still I'd have to beg
"Don't overdo the root"
She'd start to scowl, furrow her brow,
Shake her angry whisp
She'd tell me to get out the kitchenette
Still I would insist
"Don't overdo the root"
Cause you know how much I love you,
And I so appreciate your food,
I'm not trying to be rude,
But I got needs too

A tiny thing reoccuring
Til it became a fight
I'd make a face upon first taste
Then I would decry
"Don't overdo the root"
Time after time we'd recite our lines
Old wounds were opened fresh
Start as a joke, the flames we'd stoke
Til we're at each others necks
"Don't overdo the root"
Cause you know how much I love you
and I so appreciate your food
I'm not trying to be rude
but I got needs too

Now its been years and many tears
We finally parted ways
After futilely trying to change me
She dropped out of the race
There were many scenes where we disagreed
Still I contemplate
If the die was cast when first I asked her
To accommodate
"Don't overdo the root"
"perhaps the most offensive and disturbing image I've ever heard in a song" - Hans Gruber

lyrics:WSA, Blame it one ginger

we were hanging out one afternoon
you were making your mind up about me

when you asked me who i choose
from that ill fated 3 hour cruise
i said of course the movie star
and then i won your heart

you are somebody i will always, will always love
we can make this last through all the hard times and all the rest
you have all i lack and i will be a rock for you
you are somebody i will always love
blame it on ginger

we are talking about future plans

now you ask me who i choose
and from the minute i saw you
i knew i had to lock that down
you are beautiful in that gown

you are somebody i will always, will always love
we can make this last through all the hard times and all the rest
you have all i lack and i will be a rock for you
you are somebody i will always love
blame it on ginger
