I once stayed in a flat around the corner from Abbey Road Studios, courtesy of friends posted to the Canadian High Commission. The graffiti, and there was lots of it, was all good-natured admiration or commemoration. I thought it was a nice touch. I wondered why there wasn't more; now I know.
