Now it's a cajón. They'll put up a new one in a day sometimes if the first one sells out.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
Probably not many folks here will be interested in this, but right now the deal is the Bogner Ecstasy Red overdrive/boost pedal for $200, which is $100 off! This pedal sounds pretty bad ass.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
This deal is a bit different. If you pre-order this new live streaming camera now you can get it for $200, which is 50% off the post-launch price.
https://getmovi.com/
This camera looks pretty interesting. It shoots in 4k but streams in 720p. What the downsized output lets you do is control the camera from a smart phone in a way that imitates having an array of different virtual cameras, with different angles and zooms, that you can cut between seamlessly. You can even set up smooth tracking and zooming transitions between virtual cameras. It also supports face tracking too so you can very easily track and zoom in on peoples' faces. And it has an automatic mode where it tries to intelligently create and cut/transition between various virtual cameras for you. It seems kinda crazy for $200. You could do a TED conference with one of these, instead of a multi-camera rig and a crew of operators. It could be awesome for Song Fight! Live although I haven't checked yet what the options are for plugging in outboard audio gear (maybe that's not possible).
EDIT: One big note I just saw is that it's currently not compatible with Android. It's iOS devices only. :/

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
I got the Flanger last week. Been on sale for a while I guess. It's not bad actually, especially for the price. The couple of mentions I've seen online seemed to overstate its greatness a bit. Then again, I find flange to be a tough effect to use well. So far I like it better on bass than on guitar, so it probably won't make it onto my regular pedal board, but I'm playing bass in a band and might take it along to the next gig.

This deal is back today. I ordered a pair. Now I really need to sell my big monitors and stands...Lunkhead wrote:http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
Today's deal is a pair of Fostex PM0.4d monitor speakers for $180.
http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs ... 0.4d.shtml
Some folks here like fluffy I think have similar Fostex monitors and are happy with them, yes? I'm considering these as I was looking to downsize from my fairly large Event 20/20p monitors with stands/etc.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
Today's stupid deal is a 4-input USB interface for $150. It's from M-Audio:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
Having a 4-input interface can be helpful for solo folks if you wan to unplug/plug cables less often. You can leave your vocal mic plugged in, a dynamic mic for other stuff, plus a couple inputs for direct recording guitar and bass. This one has all the minimum things you'd need plus a few extras, some useful like MIDI, and some kinda weird like inserts for each input in case you want to use outboard effects, and it's a 3-port USB hub, too. Only one headphone jack though.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
Today's deal is a pretty sweet looking guitar. It's an "Epiphone Limited Edition Riviera Custom P93 Blue Royale Electric Guitar Chicago Pearl", a semi-hollow body guitar shaped like a Gibson ES-335, with a Bigsby tremolo and three P-90 pickups, for $399.

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
I have an Epiphone Casino, which is a close cousin to the Riviera, and I love it. It's an ES-330 that you don't have be afraid to play-- the ES guitars are each a few thousand dollars, but the Casino and Riviera are only a few hundred.
This Riviera, which is modeled after the ES-335, has to be one fucking raucous guitar. They both have P-90 pickups, though the Casino has two instead of three. They're big ol' single-coil pickups. Embrace the hum.

I'm very tempted. So "cheap"! But I don't need a new guitar. But I don't have a semi-hollow body guitar yet. AARGH!

Just noticed that the Pyle-Pro PDMIC78 is only $10 on Amazon. I've got a couple of these mics and they are a really good SM57 knock off. If you feel like you need a few all purpose dynamic mics to have laying around just in case, check these out: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Pro-PDMIC78- ... 1_1&sr=8-1

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
One of today's SDotD is a pair of 5" Active Studio Monitors by Fluid Audio for $200 (regularly $300). I've never heard of this company, but the two reviews I read were positive: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/stupid
A similar pair of 5" Active Studio Monitors from Monoprice will cost you a little less at $170 and they are probably fairly comparable: http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=1 ... 1&format=2
YMMV

Re: Deals On Gear and Software
Note that Monoprice mostly just buys manufacturing capacity from other random manufacturers and just has them put a Monoprice logo on things. They're always a lowest-bidder sort of operation, though, and as a result their products can be very hit-or-miss, and a review on an item won't even necessarily apply to that same item a year later.
The current reviews on those speakers are very promising though. I'd have never considered trying Monoprice for audio gear, but if I were in the market for new monitors I'd probably consider them (like I'm also vaguely considering their 4K the-other-kind-of-monitor, although its reviews are way more scattered).
