Channel 101

Post by starfinger »

anybody else watch this: http://www.channel101.com

it's my second favorite place on the internet. we don't have cable, so this is my quasi-TV watching, and it is an awesome and wonderful thing.

I guess nobody watches this. Maybe I should explain what it is, because sucker it will change your life.

In a way, it's kinda like songfight: Every month a bunch of different people submit 5-minute TV-show style homemade movies. Most of these are pilots. A lot of them have real actors and stuff in them.

They hold a public screening and the attendees vote on which ones should go "prime time". Those chosen for prime-time return the next month with the next episode in their new series. This continues until they run out of steam or they are bumped from prime time by some other exciting pilot. (There are only 5 prime-time slots).

Anyway, a lot of these shows are amazing! Shows containing real celebrities are not uncommon, and the production quality is often awesome.

Here are some of my favorite series, so far. Be sure to watch them from their beginning:

<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=152">Yacht Rock</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=130">Dick Richards: Private Dick</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=10">The 'Bu</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=11">The Harper Twin Mystery Files</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=121">The House of Cosbys</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?sh ... ockbaby</a>
<a href="http://channel101.com/shows/show.php?show_id=163">The Wright Stuff</a>

Check 'em out.

Wow, "House of Cosbys" is amazing! Too bad Cosby's lawyers fucking cease-and-desisted it, the bastards.

The private eye show is alright, too.

Oh wow, and "The Wright Stuff" is awesome.

another one.. definitely check out "laser fart", but you must get to at least episode 3 before you are allowed to give up on it.

furthermore, don't judge "the bu" by the first episode.

Yes, Channel101 has many funny shows. Sockbaby is really amazing. Part 3 is online elsewhere, since it was cancelled, but it's not as good as parts 1 and 2. The Wright Stuff is another favorite of mine, as well, and I liked Channel 101: The Musical. Timebelt was also alright. And of course, there's Kicked in the Nuts, which proved I am a sick person, because I laughed at it every time I watched it (which was many times). There's a lot of really bad stuff on there, too, though, much of which is supposed to be funny because people swear a lot, or make dick jokes. It all reminds me a lot of SongFight! sometimes, frankly. ;)
