Choose your Super Power
There was an interesting story on This American Life a while back about a guy who went around asking people to choose between these two options. Anyone else hear it?

If I wasn't also invulnerable, there's no way I would pick flying. I would splatter myself all over something lickety fast.
But, if I was invisible, then.... Well, I don't think I'd turn to a life of crime, but i'd try to use it for some kind of legal, cash-based reward something so I could buy a bunch of guitars and shit.
We actually had this discussion on the Spy Vs. Pie Popcast a few shows back, and we wondered which you would pick if you couldn't turn it off.

If I chose "invisible" do my clothes stay visible? I mean, if I'm naked all the time, that rules out living in a lot of neat places.
I'd pick invisible and cock punch everyone on my shit-list. Even the ladies.

These are EXACTLY the reasons I WOULD pick INVISIBILITY.Bjam wrote:Invisibility would just be a bitch, moral-wise especially. Flying is fun and fast and has no really awful moral repercussions.

Since I'm lacking in some of those morals, I'm okay with being invisible. Plus, when I don't wanna be bothered by the world, I can just disappear.Bjam wrote:Totally fly. Invisibility would just be a bitch, moral-wise especially. Flying is fun and fast and has no really awful moral repercussions.

you can witness naughty things happening and report them to the authorities.Leaf wrote:I picked fly cause ... well, as a kid that was always a neat fantasy.
Invisibility is really only useful for doing naughty - evil things. I mean seriously, can anyone think of a positive use of invisibility???
Damn. I can't think of one. Anyone?
Personally though, in my opinion, this would be a great abuse of the power and means to have it taken away from you. Perhaps it too falls in the negative list after all.

If you choose 'fly' can it be a cool flame-on thing, or are you just hovering there with people pointing up and making cruel jokes about pigs can fly, after all?
Obviously no self-respecting superhero would choose to be invisible when they could be modelling some super-stretch sex-lycra outfit and getting all the hottie babes of their choice. I mean even Sue Storm had those dots round her whenever she went "invisible". She knew where her money was.
Yes, I said 'sex-lycra'. What, you don't have any?

By floating, does that just mean you're hovering a few feet/inches off the ground? Or does it mean you're flying but really slowly? Either would be pretty annoying in comparison w/ flying, but at least the latter would be semi-useful. Also, if you're translucent can people see what you're eating, cuz that would be nasty.Phil. Redmon. wrote:OK: Floating or translucence?
I too have been trying to think of any non-naughty use for invisibility and haven't thought of any. Which means this poll really reads like:
Which would you choose to be:
- Super Hero
Super Villain
