The Random Image Challenge
Reposted from old Forum:
I know this is not really songfight.org related but I wanted to challenge all the cover artists and song fighters that feel up to the artsy challenge to give this a go.
I created a website that has the guidelines for a random image creation challenge. It is just for fun and it is a great way to push yourself to try something new. All I ask is you share your results with the group. There are no prizes.
So please try The Random Image Challenge and see the results from my first attempt at the challenge on the site.[/b]

Looks like one of those places you have to go to solve a clue, in Mist the game.
My only constructive feed back is: It's a bit busy and washed out in parts. Try on your next go around to think simple and allow the images to stand out a bit more.
Overall, really cool first image. Looks like you had a lot of fun with those images.

Henrietta
I find it a bit disturbing. Must be the skull with the flowers for eyes... And I'd run a mile if one of those birds came my way. Very Gothic. Good I think...

thx!
Thanks for the comments and feedbacks!
For the record, i wrestled with the idea of the mushroom texture potentially taking away from ("washing out") the rest of the image. But, to quote another, I liked the "trippy" feel it offered. I wish I could have done more with the license plate, too, but I ran out of time.
"Who lives under the stairs?" Maybe it's a doorway to gumdrop land?!
Tawny
PS - Awesome images Henrietta (it's kinda Tim Burton-like) and Kamakura (would make a great album cover for an 80s band/artist)!

I've spent a good while trying to 'get' a set of six images that work together, and it seems impossible. I am often presented with three or four that would work well, but there are always images in a set that don't...
So I've given up. I'm going to roll a dice and whatever number comes up I'll refresh the screen that many times and then use whatever I'm given.
More fun, and more like real life methinks.

I disagree, I really like how you handled the set you got. Plus the way I see the set you gambled on, it was a good set. Some very strong images in there to work with. You could have gotten 3 textures, 2 blurs and a twig.Kamakura wrote:(image)
The dice just don't play fair. Lucky I don't gamble.
I like the way you made the plates look almost egg-like and the butterfly coming in from below gives it a really nice feel. I do think the windows could have been used better, but that is my own opinion. You were taking the tree line somewhere cool, but then hid them behind the egg plates. I think you had it all going on in this one. A lot of improvement from your first attempt, which means it's getting you thinking. Which to "get you thinking" was a major part of the challange.
Great job. Keep it up, I think you are getting really good at this. I also think it is ok to go back and tweek your designs later if you step back from them and think it should be better or you could do something different.

He used it. It is in the arm of the digger between the feet. It took me longer to find the rocks than it did ti find the foil.tviyh wrote:i like that picture a lot, dre. (the one with the giant shoes).
i am not seeing where you used picture #5 though.
