Another SongFight Los Angeles?
Anyone want to help set up another SongFight LA? Or what about Vegas? That would be fun. I may have a venue for us in LA but not sure about Vegas. Whattaya think?

SF!LA was awesome, so I'd definitely be interested in another one. And I'd be happy to play guitar for some people, though I'm a lot better at that if I get more than a few hours notice about it. So Ethan, if you want to play a plugged-in set and want some backup, I can offer bass or guitar, and I'm sure you could find other volunteers. Ditto for Sean, or Chris, or whoever else may show up.
I think Ken said that the best way to make these things happen is to pick a venue and a date first. What's the venue you have in mind? Or is it too tentative to mention that? The Sound Arena thing actually worked out pretty well, so that might be an option to consider again. And what time frame were you thinking?

Having a band would rule. Thanks for the offer, we shall talk.Lunkhead wrote:...So Ethan, if you want to play a plugged-in set and want some backup, I can offer bass or guitar, and I'm sure you could find other volunteers...

The venue that I was thinking of is Sardos in Burbank. They don't do many band shows so they will be pretty low-tech on the PA side of things. But the guy has been pretty cool to work with, especially if the show is a benefit of some sort. It would be nice to tie the show in with some sort of charitable organization. I haven't asked him yet but I think it would be a possibilty. One thing is that they serve alcohol so I believe it would have to be 21+. I suppose that would not be good, especially for songfighters with kids, and kid songfighters.
Sound Arena was good except it was a bit weird that the sound guy wandered off for an hour while bands were playing. And he didn't share his nachos. Other than that, they're very nice people and have a good space.
For a date, maybe early next year? I know it sounds like a long way off but it'll give us enough time to promote it, plus the holidays-are-a-coming and the goose is getting fat.

I might be able to make it over from Phoenix for an LA songfight thing... and if there happened to be bass, drums and another guitar who'd be interested in learning up a few KA songs for a pick-up set, that's be cool, too. I'm not sure how much I'd contribute to the State Shirt sound, but I'd be available for guitar, bass, etc. as well...

If this was significantly in the future (like the new year at least) I 'd be keen on flying in and particpating... I can guarentee learning other people's songs on bass, drums or guitar, then getting really hammered and leaping around, stumbling, only to complain afterwards that I shouldn't have drank so much cause I would've played better....

If fate turns in my favour I could be there. I've got a cousin who has convinced me to fly down, but I haven't decided when yet. We'll see.

I mentioned this to my wife last night.
she said... I want to plan our next trip, so I casually say "hey.. how bout LA?"
Then she's all like "how long have you known about this?"
"Just today..."
Apparently two and a half months notice is not sufficent...
I still want to go if this is gonna happen... gonna have to work on her I guess... so... as things become more concrete I'll be able to actually make a concrete commitment... sounds like a great idea to me!!
(I'm sure I can convince her... she'd love the trip damnit!!)

Usually telling her that the family can go to Disneyland is reason enough. Give it a shot.Leaf wrote:(I'm sure I can convince her... she'd love the trip damnit!!)

You know that I'm all about this (even if I am a month late in posting on it)... and hell, Sardo's is my bar of choice in L.A. as Erik and Jeff can attest. (It is the sole reason I had very little voice left for the actual show. Damn you I Believe In A Thing Called Love!!!!!) Mid to late January seems like a great time to set it up if it works for other fighters. Ethan, lets go get beers and discuss.

I might show up and play, if Ken appears and plays "Space Cadet." I think my sister's moving down to some city near Victorville around then, and it's four hours away from LA or something like that. I'm only 18, though, so you'd have to arrange it with the guy to let me in. Maybe I can draw Xs on my hands so the bartender knows not to serve me.

ok, maybe thats not such a good idea.
PORN!!!!!
Actually, the bar in question has Porn Star Karoke every Tuesday night. to be honest, it's kinda lame, and a tad bit uncomfortable when you realize you have touched yourself to the girl sitting in the next booth.
MK, if this thing happens it would probably be a hard sell to get the owner to let you in. (he's kinda anal about that stuff) I will make my best effort, however.
