Neither -
I could possibly do a mid-late July weekend.

i didn't see the option "i'll defer to what's best for the guy setting it up".

the "build it and they will come option"

that's my choice. hope to make it.

it seems jb's preference is for the august date. but he'd have to affirm that.

I don't think I can make it. Have fun! I'll miss it, especially if people get longer sets. I think that traveling so far/much to only play a few songs is kinda rough sometimes, though there's obviously a lot more to the weekend than just performing. I'll probably regret not going like when I didn't go to Austin, but I just don't think it's feasible. Hopefully there will be one next year on the West Coast.

Not sure if I'll be allowed to come out and play again. It is hard to think up valid excuses for flying halfway round the world for a weekend.

never say never - but my participation looking very unlikely at the moment

I have noted that flights are about £100 cheaper in June, so yay to June.

Alas - my main problem I that I will have no holidays available because I am starting in a new job in a few weeks.

Yes, I have just quit my job! HOORAY!!
I am leaving the public service! HOORAY!!
I'm going back to private industry so I can earn shitloads more money! HOORAY!!
Unfortunately - unlike the Government - my new employer won't pay me to sit around and scratch my arse all day and piss off to the USA whenever the whim takes me - BOO!!!

Yeah, I'm an 'either or' myself...

The later one works better if I weigh in the 'more time to save up' dealeo.

There had better be a couch for people too drunk to stand up and play guitar. A picture to give you some idea of how awesome a live performance by me is:
