Songfight UK - 16th October, 2004

Post by Kamakura »

Image

Rogue Studios, Bermondsey, South London.
Set up at 2.00 pm.
Music starts at 3 pm.

current line-up
3.00 pm - J$
3.30 pm - Kamakura
4.00 pm - Kapitano
4.30 pm - Masters of Grip
5.00 pm - Pompeii/Mother Funker

It's free, but due to limited numbers permission slips must be requested in advance... Or else... Something.

http://songfightuk.proboards28.com - a seperate board for ensuring it all goes smoothly. This is presently a very lonely board, and would love to be visited.

Challenge Song - write a song in the week previous. Voting by audience for best one. Score cards will be produced. Deep Throat has tentatively agreed to supply the titles.

There should be images, audio and video from the day available. Certainly pictures and a video of the bands, for lifting low quality audio from.

All is under control. I am away on business in the week preceeding the 'fight so I intend to check all is well then post it here on Saturday 9th October, probably at 2.55 pm or so. (i.e. as close to a week before as football kick-off times allow ;) )

Who do you support?

Only fifteen days left 'till the Bit of a do!

Is The Sober Irishman going to grace us with his presence, or what?

Yes, of course I have. It's just that list hasn't made her mind up yet. You know what lists are like. Damn fickle. We settle on a finished, set in stone version. Print it out with lyrics etc, and then... Ch ch ch ch changes.

Anyway, you've neatly avoided the subject of which footy team you follow, though I think I read somewhere you support Millwall.

No I don't, though I can understand the confusion - rogue studios is about 100 yards from the New Den, so I had to check if they were playing at home on the 16th.

They are playing away that day, so it will nice 'n' quiet.

I can't say because Mr Balham's own preference clashes in a kind of local derby way and I don't want to sour the playing bass with the 'grip experience.

And, Blue > thank you very much. I try my best :D

Footy guesses

OK. It has to be Spurs and Arsenal then... But who is who?... Or it could be Fulham and Chelsea. Agh! Curses.

Guess again!

OK guys, this is now just under two weeks away. Everything is in place performance wise. Just need to sort out a way of recording from the PA and we should have reasonable audio archive of the event.

IMPORTANT - due to my new glamorous job, I am not around from Monday 11th-Friday 15th. At all. And will most likely not be near internet access for the majority of it. While most of Drumbella Im sure breathes a sigh of relief at this news, we need to sort out for those people who are travelling and looking for somewhere to stay on the friday and/or saturday night.

Basically as we've said before, I can put some people up and Mr Andy Balham will put up the rest. But I won't be back in london until around 9pm on Friday so if people want to stay over at mine that night, you'll have to go drinking in a pub where I can meet you or something.

So let me know as soon as possible who needs somewhere to stay and when and we'll sort it out. I will also be letting Mr Balham have my work mobile number so in the event of a songfight emergency I can be reached.

Also an encoded message has been passed to the people who pass messages to deepthroat, so a song title should be avaliable by Saturday. Get your pens ready!

Belt 'n' Braces, men.

Indeed I will. Culverden Road Studios is open for itinerant SongFighters. Please let me know if you need somewhere to crash and if you have any special requests for the rehearsal studio. I'll be contacting them shortly re. equipment and extending their opening hours slightly. I shall be requesting two guitar amps, a bass amp, a drum kit, at least 2 mikes and a PA with inputs for CD/MP3.

Hope your practising is going well,

Andy B

'Half a Stone'?
What kind of title is that? Some explanatory text would be nice. I mean to say, are we talking about 7lbs or the trippy variety? Fat people on weak acid, or what? Perhaps a stone that tries to roll but can't 'cause it isn't round enough, and is thusly missing moss?
Blimey. I'm done up like a bleedin' Kipper. Thanks oh deep throated one.

Slightly revised times

Post by Andy Balham »

Rogue Studios sent me an email today where I confirmed the booking. The booking starts at 2:30pm and ends at 6:30, which means the times will be half an hour later than 'advertised'.

I have asked for two guitar amps, a bass amp and drum kit. I have asked them to confirm we can play laptops etc through the PA. Anything else we need, please let me know and I'll try to arrange it.

Just next to the bowl of blue M&Ms I presume, or you won't be going on stage.

I don't think there will be room for the M&Ms, the Aardvark and the robotic gogo boys I will be bringing (like the ones from I, Robot, only in sexy thongs.)
